Fix HP Printers with Low Level Ink Errors
If you find it difficult to print with the HP printer or get error messages (such as "Incompatible Cartridge", "Cartridge error," etc) for the remanfactered ink cartridge, the electrical connections between the cartridge and the printer might just be the culprit.
HP Printer Flex Cable - Electrical Dirty Contact
If the printer carriage flex cable surface and the cartridges' electrical contact is dirty, such problems can arise. It can also be traced to an internal micro-electronic failure in the ink cartridge (it is unlikely for the two ink cartridges to develop such failure at a time, so one would be the culprit).
If your printer displays a message like "Very Low Ink" or "Non-HP Cartridge" and gets stuck on it, it is possible that your cartridge must have had an internal electrical failure.
*Note:
If you have alerts such as; 'Out of Ink', 'counterfeits', '? Marks' 'Low Ink' or Non-Genuine Cartridge," be rest assured that they are completely normal for all refilled colour or black ink cartridges (HP Black and HP colour L). This may look like an irregular workflow at first, but you can still proceed to print anyways.
HP Printing - Types of Alert Messages
Information Alerts
A www.inkjet.ie Remanufactured HP ink cartridges is installed, it is normal to receive alerts such as 'used black/colour cartridge' or 'non-genuine cartridge'. To bypass this, press 'continue', 'dismiss' or 'ok'.
Nuisance Messages
An www.inkjet.ie remanufactered and installed HP ink cartridge may display alerts such as 'fraud' 'counterfeit' 'used' 'depleted' or 'refilled' cartridge.
It may also display 'low on ink'. It should be noted that these alerts are normal and can be bypassed by clicking 'ok' 'continue' or 'dismiss'.
HP Printer Nuisance Alert Messages
'Nuisance' or 'annoyance' alert messages are normally displayed after installation of a freshly refilled ink cartridge. The alerts may be 'non-genuine' or 'low ink' messages.
Note: If an alert message such as 'non-HP Cartridge(s)' or 'Very Low On ink' is displayed and cannot be bypassed, then one of the cartridges may be having problematic internal electrical output and should be replaced immediately.
The printers flex cable contacts and the electrical contacts of the cartridges need to be detached and cleaned thoroughly and retested (check Printer Maintenance). After this, the problem should be fixed.
However, if it persists, you ought to do a cable/cartridge cleaning and/or run an ink cartridge diagnostics (see the below instructions).
HP Ink Cartridge Failure Error Messages
- A 'Cartridge Missing' or Not Detected' or 'Incompatible Print Cartridge', 'Refer To Cartridge Documentation' 'Black/Colour Cartridge Problem' or 'Cartridge in Left/Right Slot is Not Intended for Use in This Printer', or similar alerts displayed on the printer display or monitor.
- Cartridge lights keep blinking on the printer.
Severe Inkjet Cartridge Errors
If there is poor connectivity between the cartridge flex cables and electrical contacts inside the printer, or inefficient internal micro-electrical performance, you will receive error messages like 'printer cartridge error' 'incompatible cartridges' 'cartridge missing or not found' 'cartridge in left/right slot is missing' or 'refer to documentation'.
The power indicator light may also blink continuously as the error messages come up on the monitor. Sometimes, to fix this, you can detach and clean the ink cartridge and/or the flex cable contacts of the printer. When that doesn’t work, you should run a 'cartridge health diagnostics' check (tap 41) confirm the status of the ink cartridge by running a 'cartridge error bypass' (exclusive to a few printer models).
HP Ink Cartridge Diagnostics
The electrical health of the cartridge can be known by performing the 'tap 41' diagnostics on the control panel of the printer. If the service test ('tap 41' or 'tap 10') is successful, then the printer is still functional but there is probably an electrical fault in one or both of the ink cartridges. This fault might just be the reason the ink cartridge doesn’t allow normal print procedures.
In the 'down part' of the 'tap 41' cartridge health test, the colour/black columns should have 0 (zero) as the displayed value. If the value displayed in the indicator areas isn’t zero (0), then the cartridge must have been electrically damaged permanently and needs to be replaced.
Note: You can initiate the 'tap 10' self-test print using a quick code - 'code=10"'
(via the above procedure)
In an evaluation, some horizontal lines might be missing in the nozzle stair-step patterns. However, any loss of more than 10% of the horizontal lines in any grid automatically means the ink cartridge, whether black or tri-colour is electrically ruined and cannot allow normal printing.
Help, Fixes and Recommended Solutions for HP Printing Errors
For your ink cartridge and printer to function at an optimal level, the contacts between them must be clean. Any dust or ink on the contacts will send a wrong message to the printer which may indicate a 'bad cartridge'. To be sure that these contacts are clean at all times, follow these steps:
- Frequently detach the cartridge and re-install it.
- Ensure you clean the contacts between the ink cartridge and the printer.
- Performing a self-test on the printer is a great deal. You can also do a reset after the self-test. For more information, check the 'Printer Model' page or the HP Printer Diagnostics page.
Poor Printing or Missing Ink Colours
If your machine's print quality is poor or there are missing colours on the prints, you have to wipe the electrical contacts of the cartridge and the flex driver cable surface of the printer. If the missing colours are due to a clogged cartridge, a flush of warm water may just be enough to fix it.
Note: The best way to verify your printer or cartridge performance is to replace the ink cartridge.
Most ink cartridges do fail when they are refilled repeatedly. Sometimes, the electrical or mechanical failure of cartridges or printers might not be related to refilling.
It may be a result of physical damage, wears, cracks or any missing elements. Getting a brand new cartridge from www.inkjet.ie and beginning the process of filling all over could be your best bet.
